Mild weather across the PJM footprint is supporting a moderate load profile today. Forecast temperatures peak in the upper-60s to low-70s across Washington DC, Philadelphia, Newark, Richmond, Columbus, and Pittsburgh, while Chicago stays cooler in the upper-50s. With limited cooling demand and no broad heat signal, PJM’s forecasted load peak is concentrated in the evening, reaching 92.8 GW in HE20 as solar output rolls off and net load firms.
Through observed real-time hours HE1-5, actual load peaked at 76.8 GW in HE1 and remained relatively stable in the mid-70 GW range. Real-time prices averaged about $42.81/MWh versus day-ahead prices near $39.99/MWh, leaving average DART at approximately -$2.83/MWh over the observed period.
